Jan Mapes

Jan Mapes’ studio is located in the ranch country of southeastern Colorado, where she and her husband Jim also train and show cutting horses. Jan’s artwork flows from living the traditional western lifestyle which pervades the local community. Years of immersion and love for this culture have allowed her to develop a special feel for the land, along with its inhabitants and communicate it through her work. Whether sculpting cowboys, horses, or wildlife, Jan strives to capture the movement, flow, and emotion of the moment. “I never intend to stop growing in my sensitivity towards nature- always taking time to appreciate life.”
