Born in Washington State, Michelle Hauer is a dual citizen living in Canada after a family move in her childhood. She has spent most of her life outdoors, carrying around a sketchbook on every adventure. As an artist, she also embraces singing, music, poetry and writing, and uses her skills in the community to help others, including classes for long term care senior homes and children. She works passionately to engage others in the arts for the sake of culture and development, and to preserve these gifts.
Specializing in foundational training in a variety of breeds and disciplines, Michelle has trained horses professionally for show and pleasure, mainly on a freelance basis. Both art and working with horses present challenges due to a time intensive style of realism; many of her four-legged pupils become excellent subjects, representing some of the more interesting sides of training horses.
She currently produces pieces in graphite, watercolor, and oil, as well as acrylic and the occasional sculpture, mostly in classical lifelike styles, some of which require many hundreds of hours in time to accomplish. Her work is in the collection of several corporations and art patrons, and many fellow lovers of horses.
