Sharon McConnell began showing horses near Denton, Texas, at a young age; later she bought, trained and sold her own horses. She and her husband Ronnie have lived on ranches across the United States training horses. Currently, they live on a ranch near Dublin, Texas.
Sharon says, “God has prepared me to be an artist. God knew how much I love horses and the cowboy life.” Friend Chuck DeHaan gave her some clay and that became her first bronze.
Later, she studied with Mehl Lawson. Sharon has two commissioned pieces in Fort Worth and has won the Top Hat and Tail Award by the U’OL Goat Committee and the C.C. French Award by the Tallest Hog at the Trough Syndicate.
Her work has been featured in Trappings of Texas, the Cowgirl Museum Hall of Fame exhibition, the Bosque Art Classic and the Phippin Memorial Day Art Show.
