2012 Road to the Horse Champ Guy McLean

2012 Road to the Horse Champion Guy McLean will perfomr Saturday evening at Battle in the Saddle.

The highlight event of this year’s Battle in the Saddle competition comes from the amazing performer and 2012 Road to the Horse Champion Guy McLean. McLean will take the stage during the evening’s finals performance at 7 p.m.

Frequently called the “Steve Irwin of Horses,” McLean provides entertainment on horseback that amazes crowds worldwide. Just a glimpse of the incredible horseback stunts one might see at a performance include riding bridleless and saddleless, performing trick moves through a lane of fire, whip cracking while standing atop a group of horses and directing his horses to perform tricks ranging from sitting, laying down and sidepassing over other horses or cattle.

Be sure to mosey on down to the Kids’ Corral area before McLean’s performance for Family Fun Day. Family Fun Day will take place from 4-6 p.m. in Barn 3 at the State Fair Park in Oklahoma City. Little buckaroos of all ages can look forward to arts and crafts, games, Wild West-themed activities and the second annual mop pony grand entry.

Youngsters will kick off Battle in the Saddle’s Saturday night of competition in the Jim Norick Arena with a mop pony grand entry parade. Admission to Battle in the Saddle is free, so bring the whole family to see the kids rustle up cheers and applause as they spur their mops through Oklahoma City’s most famous arena.

Registration for the mop pony parade starts at 5:45 p.m. and is limited to the first 100 kids, ages 6 and older. Other activities are for all ages. Children must wear closed-toe shoes or boots to join in the grand entry.

Owned by Oklahoma State Fair and managed by AQHA, Battle in the Saddle presented by RFD-TV welcomes all breeds. Additionally, AQHA points will be awarded to American Quarter Horse competitors.
