Exhibitors for the World's Gretest Horseman Shootout will compete in four exciting events July 3-8 at Battle in the Saddle in Oklahoma City.
The 2012 World’s Greatest Horseman Shootout entrants will enter center stage July 3-8 in Oklahoma City to battle it out for top honors at the third annual Battle in the Saddle, presented by RFD-TV.
Battle in the Saddle will host the third annual World’s Greatest Horseman Shootout, which puts one horse, one rider and one bridle together for four exciting western performance events. The open riders must exhibit their horses in four events: herd work, rein work, steer stopping and fence work.
The Shootout will feature two riders per association:
American Quarter Horse Association Tripp Townsend of Earth, Texas Ben Baldus of Electra, Texas
Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association Chad Little of Saint Michael, Minnesota Natalie Johnson of Phoenix, Arizona
National Reined Cow Horse Association Thomas Scheer of Sumrall, Mississippi Dustin Rogers of Blanchard, Oklahoma
American Rope Horse Futurity Gary Wells of Lone Grove, Oklahoma Jamie Stover of Abilene, Kansas
National Cutting Horse Association Charles “Bubba” Matlock of Perrin, Texas Adan Banuelos of Jacksboro, Texas
This year, Shorty’s Caboy Hattery will be donating a hat to the winner of the World’s Greatest Horseman Shootout at Battle in the Saddle. The winner will also be nominated to the 2013 NRCHA World’s Greatest Horseman competition held in conjunction with the NRCHA Celebration of Champions in San Angelo, Texas.

Battle in the Saddle is owned by Oklahoma State Fair and managed by the American Quarter Horse Association. All breeds are welcome, but American Quarter Horses competing will receive AQHA points.
This year’s Battle in the Saddle will include $149,000 in added money, making more than an estimated $300,000 in purses. Battle in the Saddle is presented by RFD-TV, and the event will once again be aired on RFD-TV. Other sponsors include: Ram Rodeo, Four Sixes Ranch, Professional’s Choice, Montana Silversmiths and The American Quarter Horse Journal.
