Stone E Motion Draws Outside in Red Cell Distance Championship

November 16, 2010

Stone E Motion, winner of five of six starts at 870 yards, will break from the outside 8 post in Friday's $125,000 Red Cell Distance Championship (G1) at Fair Grounds Race Course as the 2-1 morning-line favorite for the 870-yard race around the turn on the track's one-mile oval. The Distance Championship, which is for 3-year-olds and older horses, is part of the 18th Bank of America Racing Challenge Championships, the season-ending championship event of AQHA's purse and bonus awards program.

“I'm not really that upset,” said Bill Harris, who trains Stone E Motion for his wife, Lori. “The 8 hole is not ideal, but here with the lane being so long and the turn coming up so quickly, I was actually hoping for about the 6 so I guess I can live with the 8. It's a big long lane.”

On November 16, post positions for the Challenge Championships were drawn during a brunch at the track. The Distance Championship starters, in post position order with their jockeys and morning-line odds, are:

Bad Act, Stormy Smith, 10-1
Ride Em Cowboys, Jesus Salazar, 10-1
De Passem Okey, G.R. Carter Jr., 3-1
Bonified Man, David Pinon, 12-1
Apollo Rocks, John Hamilton, 12-1
Sheet Burns, Martin Bourdieu, 5-2
Mountain Man, Esgar Ramirez, 12-1
Stone E Motion, William Ives, 2-1

The Distance Challenge Championship is sponsored by Red Cell, a high-potency vitamin and mineral-enriched formula. The stakes is the eighth of 13 races at Fair Grounds with an approximate post time of 8:02 p.m. Central time.

The Bank of America Challenge Championships will be featured for the first time on Horse Racing TV and available to the channel’s 17 million subscribers, as well as free to view on AQHA’s Q-Racing Video. During the “free weekend,” nonsubscribers will be asked for a valid e-mail address to access the site. Q-Racing Video will be free and open to the world from 8 a.m. Friday, November 19, through the evening of Sunday, November 21. BY AMY OWENS
