Wagon Full Of Gold broke his maiden on his second start, the May 24 trials to the Ruidoso Futurity (G1), and had not raced since being scratched from the June 9 Ruidoso Juvenile Invitational (R).

Trainer: Wesley Todd “Wes” Giles has been training American Quarter Horses on his own since 1981, when he sent out his first starter. Giles in 2007 sent out Wild Six to win the Grade 1 West Texas and Rainbow futurities, and repeated the West Texas score the following year with Fast Prize Zoom. Giles is the son of the late Ed Giles, the Utah-based trainer who in the 1980s and early ’90s often topped the national trainer standings by races won.

Qualifying jockey: Jay Conklin won the 2002 All American Futurity aboard champion AB What A Runner. An American Quarter Horse jockey since 1993, Conklin has ridden 632 winners from 3,316 mounts that have earned more than $4.93 million.

Pedigree: Wagon Full Of Gold is one of 241 winners and the earners of more than $10.79 million from four crops raced by PYC Paint Your Wagon, who has been represented by 40 stakes winners. A 10-year-old son of Corona Cartel, PYC Paint Your Wagon is out of Dashin Follies, a daughter of Strawfly Special out of the world champion First Down Dash mare Dashing Folly. Though herself a maiden, Dashin Follies has produced the earners of more than $1.46 million, including stakes winner Mi Angela by Jet Black Patriot and PYC Paint Your Wagon’s stakes-placed full brother Ivory James ($220,026), who has sired the earners of more than $4 million.
