Race Record: Despite lugging to the outside rail in the 26th and final trial, Ed Burke Million Futurity (G1) winner One Dashing Eagle scored his third consecutive victory to earn his spot in the All American final.
Breeders: Harvey, Dale and Jerry Allred are all deceased, but are forever memorialized in the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame as the Allred Bros. Basing their breeding and training operation at Mesa, Arizona, the brothers raced such notables as Mark T Bars, the all-time winningest Quarter Horse with the record 64 victories; and in more than 50 consecutive years as breeders produced 435 Quarter Horses, of which 376 have started races and 278 have returned as winners. Altogether, they have earned more than $8.8 million, led by champion and All American Futurity winner AB What A Runner ($1,342,389) and 52 other stakes winners.
Owners: One Dashing Eagle was purchased at the Ruidoso Select Yearing Sale for $43,000 by Jose and Gustavo De La Torre and San Gregorio Racing Stable Inc. of Norco, California.
Trainer: Since 2004, Jose De La Torre has sent out 48 winners and the earners of $491,552 from 499 starts in Quarter Horse races. De La Torre conditioned Easy Swinger to win the Newport Beach Handicap (G3) and DLT Runaway to win the My Debut Handicap.
Qualifying Jockey: Paul Jones put Ramon Sanchez aboard champion Runnning Brook Gal to win the 2009 All American Futurity. Since 1999, Sanchez has ridden the winners of 1,591 races and the earners of more than $30.1 million from 8.982 races. Last year, Sanchez won Grade 1 races aboard Llano Teller in the All American Derby; I Like The Odds in the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity; Separate Fire in the Ed Burke Million and Kindergarten futurities; Favorite Cartel in the Bank of America Challenge Championship; Feature Honor in the Adequan Derby Challenge Championship; and Stylish Jess BR in the Charger Bar Handicap.
Pedigree: The colt is one of three stakes winners by No. 1-leading freshman sire One Famous Eagle, who from 64 starters has sired 18 winners and the earners of more than $821,000. A 7-year-old son of champion Mr Jess Perry, One Famous Eagle also is the sire of stakes winners Dashaway Eagle ($17,518) and One Famous Strawfly ($13,667).
One Dashing Eagle is one of three stakes winners out of the graded stakes-winning First Down Dash mare One Sweet Dash ($81,937), who ran in Bono Jazz’s Pacific Coast QHRA Breeders’ Futurity and has produced the earners of $1,442,505. From five winners out of seven starters, One Sweet Dash has produced Grade 1 winner One Sweet Jess ($953,592, by Mr Jess Perry) and stakes winner Hes A Standout ($45,497, by Strawfly Special).
One Sweet Dash is one of five stakes winners out of the stakes-placed Beduino (TB) mare Sweet Beduino, who also produced Grade 2 winner A Dash Of Beduino ($103,934, by Dash For Cash), Grade 3 winner and track-record holder This Jet Is Royal ($91,613, by Easy Jet), and other stakes winners Posting The Colors ($36,641 ) and Fly With Honor ($16,245) both by Strawfly Special.
