$1M Futurity Headlines Evangeline Meet

LQHBA Futurity is headliner in Evangeline meet opening October 3.

The LQHBA Futurity (RG1), now worth a cool million dollars, highlights the upcoming 2012 fall Quarter Horse racing season as Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino, which kicks offs the 46-night meet on Wednesday, October 3.

The LQHBA Futurity for Louisiana-bred 2-year-olds will be the first ever seven-figure Quarter Horse race in the state of Louisiana. The LQHBA Futurity will be run on Saturday, November 17, with the trials held on Friday, October 26.

Coleman Lloyd, racing secretary at Evangeline Downs stated “While the pre-season buzz is naturally focused on the LQHBA Futurity, we are once again offering a strong overnight program with purses at approximately $90,000 a night, a solid increase from last year’s levels, and should provide plenty of opportunity for our horsemen and fans.”

The season will run thru Thursday, December 20 and will feature primarily a four-evening a week schedule, Wednesday-Saturday with a first post of 5:40 p.m. Central Time.
