With a resounding win as the favorite in Saturday’s Oklahoma Derby at Remington Park, Freighttrain B was rewarded with a No. 5 ranking in the latest AQHA Racing-Horseplayernow.com national poll for older horses. Now a six-time winner from 10 starts, the Eddie Willis trainee capped off a huge night for his trainer, who won four races on the program.

Freighttrain B, also the winner of last year’s rich Black Gold Championship (RG3) at Will Rogers Downs, was the poll’s only newcomer of the week as Los Alamitos Winter Championship (G2) victor Good Reason SA remains atop the rankings. Los Alamitos Winter Derby (G2) champ Oatman sits a clear-cut second in the poll once again this week.

While the season’s first weekly 2-year-old rankings will not debut until May, the youngsters have started running. In addition to Toast To Patriot’s win in the March 8 Mardi Gras Futurity (RG2), this past weekend Adolph Tres Knockout registered the Oklahoma Futurity (G3) at Remington Park and at Louisiana Downs, JLS Party Wagon took the Harrah’s Entertainment Futurity (G3). The Kenneth Griggs-trained filly by Tres Seis also was the fastest qualifier for the final and has now won both career starts. JLS Party Wagon races for breeder JLS-Speed Horse Ranch, who campaigned last year’s champion 2-year-old gelding, JLS Mr Bigtime.
