This week, the American Quarter Horse Association Racing Aces launches its social media push in conjunction with the trials for the Grade 1 Ruidoso Futurity and Derby. On Friday, May 24, the Racing Aces will launch its Social Media Ace of the Day.

The Social Media Racing Ace of the Day will post a tip sheet and follow racing activity with Facebook and Twitter posts. The goal is to attract followers by posting timely and interesting updates, such as fastest qualifiers, multiple jockey/trainer/owner/breeder wins, pedigree standouts, weather conditions and anything else racing fans might find compelling. Jen Perkins will cover the Ruidoso Futurity trials on May 24 and Martha Claussen is the Ace assigned to the Ruidoso Derby trials on May 25. Dates for additional racing events will be forthcoming.

The Racing Aces is a fan education program initiated by AQHA in 2010. The Racing Aces is made up of individuals who have been involved in American Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred racing as handicappers, racing writers and publicists. The major goals of the Racing Aces program are to promote the sport, provide fan education services and help to develop new fan bases.

The Aces have made visits to Los Alamitos Race Course, Remington Park, Sandy Downs, Sam Houston Race Park, Delta Downs, Canterbury Park, Fort Erie, Prairie Meadows, Evangeline Downs, Arapahoe Park and Ruidoso Downs.

"Social media continues to grow in popularity in the racing industry," said AQHA Executive Director of Racing Trey Buck. “The Aces have done a great job in their appearances at racetracks across the country, and will continue to make visits in 2013. This is an opportunity to reach both existing fans and newcomers to the sport who follow social media.”
