On October 27, all ages can enjoy an abundance of treats at Cherokee Casino Will Rogers Downs. The day is loaded with a barbeque cook-off, family activities, horse racing and a free concert by country star Mark Chesnutt.

Kicking off the day’s events will be the third annual Boo-B-Que, which features numerous teams serving hundreds of hungry guests while competing for $3,000 in cash prizes. There will be $5 taster kits available at 11 a.m., and winners will be announced at 3:30 p.m.

“The great thing about coming out and enjoying the barbecue is you not only get to sample a lot of amazing food, but you’re also supporting the Claremore Reveille Rotary Club in its efforts to fund numerous projects for Rogers County children,” said Ali Aguilar, marketing manager for Cherokee Casino Will Rogers Downs.

From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., children can get their faces painted, bounce in the Jupiter jump and ride ponies as part of the annual Family Fun Day. All activities are free.

The fourth annual Halloween carnival will keep the party going from 6 to 8 p.m. with an assortment of games and activities for children ages 10 and younger. Among the evening’s events is a kids’ costume contest at 7 p.m.
As part of the day’s events, live horse racing will begin at noon.

The festivities will go late into the night inside the Dog Iron Saloon for those 18 and older, where Chesnutt plays a free concert at 10:30 p.m. Following his set, casino officials will give away an autographed guitar.

During his 24-year career, Chesnutt has released 13 studio albums and numerous hit singles, including “Brother Jukebox,” “I’ll Think of Something,” “Almost Goodbye,” “Gonna Get a Life” and a cover of “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.”

On Halloween, Will Rogers Downs officials hosts a costume contest for the adults at 9 p.m. The top five places win cash prizes of $1,000, $500, $250, $150 and $100.
