Challenge Deadlines Approaching

The deadline for paying nomination and sustaining fees to upcoming Bank of America Racing Challenge races is fast approaching.

Bank of America Championship Challenge races are for 3-year-olds and up at 440 yards. Coming up are the Sunland Championship Challenge (G2) at Sunland Park: $110,000 added, with the trials on March 20 and the final April 8; Houston (G1) at Sam Houston Race Park, $100,000-added, trials March 30 and final April 14; and Remington (G2) at Remington Park, $100,000-added, trials April 20 and final May 6.

The $200 nomination fee for the Sunland and Sam Houston Championship Challenge races was due February 1, with the $600 sustaining or $2,500 late fees due Thursday, March 1. The $200 nomination for the Remington Challenge is March 1, with the $600 sustaining or $2,500 late fees due April 1.

The Merial Distaff Challenge is for 3-year-olds and older fillies and mares going 400 yards. The Distaff Challenge at Sun Downs: $20,000-added, with the trials April 22 and final May 6; Remington: $35,000-added, trials April 20 and final May 6; and Houston, $22,000-added, trials April 27 and final May 13.

For these Merial Distaff Challenge races, the $200 nomination fee is due March 1, with the $600 sustaining and $2,500 late fees due April 1.

The Red Cell Distance Challenge is for 3-year-olds and up at 870 yards. The Red Cell Sunland Distance Challenge (G3) is $55,000 added, with the trials March 9 and the final April 1; and the Remington Distance Challenge (G3) is $50,000-added, trials April 20 and final May 6. The $200 nomination fee is due March 1 and the $600 sustaining or $2,500 late fee is by April 1.

The Pfizer Starter Allowance is at 350 yards for 3-year-olds and up that have started for a claiming price of $5,000 or less within 12 months prior to the sustaining or late deadlines. Coming up are the Pfizer Starter Allowance at Sun Downs in Kennewick, Washington: $12,500-added, with trials April 21 and the final May 5; Remington Park, $30,000-added, trials April 20 and final May 6; Sam Houston Race Park, $18,000-added, trials April 27 and final May 12; and SunRay Park in Farmington, New Mexico: trials April 27 and final May 13.

The $100 nomination fee for each of those Pfizer Starter Allowance races is March 1, with $400 sustaining or $2,500 late fees due April 1.

For Maiden Challenge races: Fort Pierre Maiden Challenge in Fort Pierre, South Dakota: $15,000-added at 250 yards, with the trials on April 21 and the final April 29; Hipodromo de las Americas in Mexico City – $15,000-added at 350 yards, trials April 15 and final April 29; Sun Downs – $10,000-added at 350 yards, trials April 21 and final May 5; and Sam Houston Race Park in Houston, $18,000-added at 350 yards, trials April 26 and final May 11.

The $200 nomination fee for each Maiden race is due March 1, with $400 sustaining or $2,500 late fees due April 1.
