Graded stakes winner Chi Ter died September 10 from complications of colic.

The 6-year-old gelding was owned by Mary Passmore Kirby, and was at Prairie Meadows preparing for his final race prior to retirement. He was entered in an optional claiming race on Friday.

Chi Ter made 40 starts over his career, with 15 wins, five seconds and five thirds. He earned $382,311 and a career-high speed index of 111.

Chi Ter won six stakes, including the 2012 Keokuk Stakes (G3), 2010 Altoona Derby (G3) and 2009 Oklahoma-Bred Futurity (RG3). He also won the 2010 South Florida Invitational and 2012 Sawgrass Stakes, both at Hialeah Park. He placed in seven other stakes, and was fourth in the 2009 Texas Classic Futurity (G1).

Bred by Herb and Doris Pierce, Chi Ter was by Granite Lake and out of the unraced Chicks Beduino mare This Chicks Stylish. He was a half brother to stakes winner Make Out Artist (by Make It Anywhere, $132,361) and graded stakes competitor Ollys Chicklet (by Mr Eye Opener, $52,461).
