Cold Cash 123, American Quarter Horse racing’s world champion in 2011, served notice that he’s back in a big way Sunday when winning the Bank of America Remington Championship Challenge (G2) at Remington Park. That effort landed him the No. 3 ranking in this week’s AQHA Racing-Horseplayernow.com National Top 10 rankings for the older horses. The poll for the 2-year-olds also made news this week as pollsters teetered in favor of Especially Tres as the new No. 1 juvenile in the land.

Cold Cash 123 now has won 13 of 22 starts for more than $1.3 million and is expected for a title defense June 1 in the Remington Park Invitational Championship (G1).

The national poll for the older horses continues to be led by unanimous No. 1 Rylees Boy, winner of the Los Alamitos Winter Championship (G1). PJ Chick In Black held second this week narrowly, 77-73 in the balloting, over Cold Cash 123.

On the 2-year-old front, the season’s second week of rankings saw balloters shift slightly at the top. Only two points separated the top two vote-getters in the division’s season debut poll last week, and this week Especially Tres landed three points to the good of WR Golden Eagle, 91-88, on the ballots. Two new runners cracked the bottom of the Top 10 for the juveniles, No. 9 Wagon Tales and No. 10 Dynasty Edition. Wagon Tales impressed pollsters with his trial victory for the Heritage Place Futurity (G1) this past weekend.
