Louisiana stallion First Prize Perry was represented by his first stakes winner on Saturday when his 3-year-old gelded son Mr T Perry captured the $40,000 Billy Montgomery Stakes (RG3) at Louisiana Downs.
A son of Mr Jess Perry, First Prize Perry is out of 2006 broodmare of the year First Prize Dash, a winning daughter of Dash For Cash who has produced 22 winners from 27 starters. Her foals include five stakes winners and have combined to earn more than $2.2 million.
Bred by Weetona Stanley and now owned by Chad Hart and Bobby Cox, First Prize Perry hit the board in seven of his eight career starts and banked $243,946. In his only start against stakes company, he finished second by a neck to Valiant Hero in the $1.05 million Texas Classic Futurity (G1) at Lone Star Park.
First Prize Perry stands at Chad Hart’s Hart Farms in Kaplan, Louisiana. Hart also bred Mr T Perry, who runs for owner Ana Alvidrez.
