Fort Erie Closing at Year End

Historic racetrack said to close at the end of the year.

Officials associated with Fort Erie Race Track in Fort Erie, Ontario, said the track will close permanently on December 31 due to lack of funds, according to a Daily Racing Form report.

The track, which has operated for 115 years, had their slots operation shut down on April 30. 

The racetrack is set to run nine days of American Quarter Horse racing this year, opening July 2 and ending October 17.
