Ten-time champion jockey G.R. Carter, Jr.’s winning ride aboard Shez Jess Toxic in the Merial Remington Park Distaff Challenge on Sunday afternoon marks the 3,500 career win in his illustrious riding career.

Already firmly in second place on the all-time wins list for jockeys after surpassing Danny Cardoza in 2012, the native of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, moves within 131 wins of eclipsing the sports all-time leading rider Alvin “Bubba” Brossette at the top of the all-time wins list.

The retired Brossette’s career total of 3,631 wins remains at the top of the standings on the all-time wins list. Carter has held the spot at the top of the all-time leading money earners list for some time. As of May 13, Carter’s lifetime earnings is at $61,841,297.

Carter is currently in first place in the rider standings at the 2013 Remington Park Quarter Horse Meet in Oklahoma City. He has 46 wins.
