Two All American Futurity winning jockeys, Cody Jensen and Juan Vazquez, were injured in a spill in the fifth race Sunday at Remington Park in Oklahoma City.

Jensen reports that he has been diagnosed with a broken clavicle, and it will require surgery that is planned for May 20.

The unconfirmed report on Vazquez are that he suffered both a bruised kidney, and bruised ribs. Attempts to reach Vazquez were unsuccessful at press time.

The spill occurred at mid-stretch when the mount that Vazquez was aboard, Jc Lucky Clover, fell into the path of Jensen’s mount, English Chicks Man. Jensen attempted to miss the fallen mount, but could not avoid running over the top of both Vazquez and his mount.

Juan Vazquez ranks 44th on the all-time wins list, with 1377 career wins as of May 19, and over $24 million in lifetime earnings. Vazquez’s career highlight came in the 2004 All American Futurity (G1) with his victorious ride aboard DM Shicago.

Jensen is 43th on the all-time wins list with 1395 wins, and with over $26.2 million in lifetime earnings. Jensen can count his back-to-back victories in the 2005 and the 2006 All American Futurity (G1) aboard Teller Cartel and No Secrets Here, respectively.
