Kates Dynasty won a Texas-sized showdown on Saturday night at Lone Star Park, one that propelled her all the way to No. 2 in the latest AQHA Racing-Horseplayernow.com National Poll for 2-year-olds. The filly outfooted several of the nation’s top-ranked juveniles in capturing the $1 million Texas Classic Futurity (G1) with flair for her third consecutive victory. Kates Dynasty lands behind only All American Futurity (G1) winner Handsome Jack Flash in this week’s rankings.

Big Biz Perry fell to two spots to No. 6 this week in the 2-year-old poll after a troubled start and eighth-place finish in the Texas Classic Futurity.

As for the older horses, this week’s rankings made way for a newcomer in Vodka With Ice, upset winner of the $350,000 Bank of America Challenge Championship (G1) at Los Alamitos on Saturday night. The 8-year-old gelding pulled the 17-to-1 upset in front-running fashion over 2011 world champion Cold Cash 123. The victory, his fourth in six starts this season, also earned him a berth into the Champion of Champions (G1) at Los Alamitos, the expected next start for many in the Top 10 rankings, including this week’s No. 1 Ochoa.
