The horses will be bursting out of the starting gate for third year of live horse racing at Les Bois Park at Boise, Idaho, starting on Wednesday, May 1.

The track will host its Kentucky Derby Day celebration on Saturday, May 4, Opening night’s post time is 5:30 p.m., followed by afternoon racing for the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 4, with an early afternoon post time of 2 p.m. Gates open one and a half hours prior to post all season long. In keeping a promise for “bigger and better” affordable family entertainment, Les Bois Park is your go-to destination for family fun this summer.

The Kentucky Derby will be shown live on televisions throughout the park and wagering on the Derby is available 24 hours in advance. In keeping with Derby-day tradition, Les Bois Park hosts a Kentucky Derby Hat contest, food and drink specials, along with a full live race card before and after the Derby. Les Bois Park is proud to be part of the tradition as the Treasure Valley’s premier horse racing facility. Hometown legend and Hall of Fame jockey Gary Stevens will be riding in this year’s Kentucky Derby.  Stevens started his career at Les Bois Park.

“Treasure Valley Racing is proud to be a part of Idaho’s horse racing and the equine industry,” said Harry Bettis, co-owner of the Idaho ownership group. “We appreciate the help from the Idaho Legislature in keeping this industry alive and running.”

The Turf Club Bar and Grill simulcast facility and restaurant is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. every Wednesday through Sunday, and until midnight on weekends.  Simulcast wagering is available from tracks across the nation. Trackside patio seating is expanded so that more patrons can get as close to the action as possible, while enjoying a barbecue and a stable full of drink specials.

“It is truly a pleasure to return as general manager here at Les Bois Park after a decade absence," said Duayne Didericksen. "Idaho horse racing and our equine industry is deeply rooted in our state, I am proud and happy to be back involved at Les Bois Park."

The popular Wednesday Ladies’ Night returns this year with free admission for the ladies. In addition, Les Bois Park will race on two holidays, featuring a Veterans Tribute on Monday, Memorial Day May 27, and the Stars and Stripes Handicap on Thursday, July 4. Upcoming season highlights include the return of   “Fillies Run for the Pink” Charity Day to benefit Komen for the Cure, Bitterroot Futurity, Governor’s Cup Race and Idaho Cup on Closing Day, August 10.  Race fans receive an official race program with every paid admission. General admission for adults is $5, 13-17  is $2 and children 12 and under are free. Patio, Box Seat and Turf Club table reservations are now available.
