With his victory in Sunday’s $163,300 Vessels Maturity (G1), Far Niente moved into the AQHA Racing-Horseplayernow.com National Poll.
The 4-year-old FDD Dynasty gelding races for Vessels Stallion Farm LLC and Atwood Ranches. The three-quarter-length victory was his second start and second win of the year. He jumped all the way to No. 4 on the poll for older horses.
The leaders in both of the polls, Kiss My Hocks and Rock You, backed up their positions this past week with qualifying races to the Grade 1 Rainbow Futurity and Derby, respectively.
Kiss My Hocks offered fans yet another impressive performance, rolling to a 3 1/4-length trial win, posting the fastest qualifying time for the $900,000 Rainbow Futurity on July 20. Rock You had a five-race win streak snapped in his trial for the Rainbow Derby, as he was second, a half length behind fastest qualifier Her O Don Won. Both horses qualified to the July 19 final.
Two other ranked horses, No. 6 Boi George and No. 8 JM Miracle, qualified to the Rainbow Futurity. In the older horse rankings, No. 9 This Dude Can Fly also qualified to the Rainbow Derby.
