Remington Cancels Most of Friday Card

Severe storm forces Oklahoma City track to cancel final 10 races on program.

A severe line of thunderstorms that are generating tornadoes have forced the cancelation of the final 10 races on the Friday night race card at Remington Park.

Remington Park racing will continue Saturday and Sunday as the 2013 American Quarter Horse season comes to a close. The first race on Saturday is at 6 p.m. with Sunday afternoon racing at 1:30 p.m.

The Saturday program is the “Mega-Card” with the final six races comprising the following stakes schedule:
*Race 7, $75,000 Heritage Place Juvenile (R), 8:36 p.m.
*Race 8, $249,175 Speedhorse/Graham Farms Paint & Appaloosa Futurity, 9:02 p.m.
*Race 9, Grade 2, $285,780 Heritage Place Derby, 9:28 p.m.
*Race 10, Grade 1, $1,075,260 Heritage Place Futurity, 9:54 p.m.
*Race 11, Grade 1, $250,000 Remington Park Championship, 10:20 p.m.
*Race 12, Grade 2, $50,000 Junos Request Stakes, 10:46 p.m.

The program, the richest race card ever-run at Remington Park, includes total purses for the 12-race Saturday “Mega-Card” that top out at $2,093,215, making it the all-time richest race program in track history.
