Nine horses who raced at Ruidoso Downs this spring have tested positive for three banned medications, including the powerful painkiller dermorphin, according to a report from the Daily Racing Form. At least five of the positive tests came in the trials of the Grade 1 Ruidoso Futurity and Derby. The names of the horses and trainers have not yet been released. In addition to dermorphin, the tests also included positives for ractopamine and stanozolol, a water-based steroid. In recent weeks, there have also been positive tests in Louisiana and Oklahoma.
