Grade 1-placed first-crop sire Sir Runaway Dash got his first stakes winner on Saturday when Perrys Runaway won the $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile (RG2) at the historic Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans. The 8-year-old stallion stands at Tate Farms near Ville Platte, Louisiana, for a fee of $2,000.

Under jockey Donald Watson, Perrys Runaway went wire-to-wire over the 350 yards in :17.485, a 101 speed index. The $45,000 winner's purse boosted his career total to $182,504. Kevin Broussard conditions the 2-year-old for owner/breeder Gerald Libersat. He is out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Ms Perrys Money.

From a limited number of eight starters in his first crop to race this year, Sir Runaway Dash has sired six winners (75%), one stakes winner (12.5%) and one stakes-placed runner (12.5%) with earnings of $297,352 and average earnings per starter of $37,169.

Sir Runaway Dash, the #7 leading first-crop sire of 2012, is the sire of the aforementioned Perrys Runaway, T Boy C SI 103 ($69,601, 3rd LQHBA Sale Invitational Stakes[R]), Mister Runaway SI 91 ($18,030), TF Toast To Runaway SI 95 ($12,122), etc.

Sir Runaway Dash won or placed in 12 of 19 career starts, earning $120,706. He was second in the Golden State Derby (G1) and twice placed in the Z Wayne Griffin Directors Handicap Stakes. He also was a finalist in the Governor's Cup Futurity (RG1), Los Alamitos Invitational Championship (G1), Governor's Cup Derby (RG2), etc.
