August 3, 2014

Pedro Carrillo’s Alis Jumpn was a prompt favorite in Sunday’s $50,000 O.B. Cockerell Stakes at The Downs at Albuquerque as the 4-year-old daughter of Jumpn scored by three-quarters of a length. Ridden by Albert Medrano for trainer Tony Gallegos, the Texas-bred dashed 350 yards in :17.218.

Alis Jumpn, who was bred by Don Apodaca, has now won four of five starts this year and nine of 13 for her career. The mare has a pair of Grade 3 wins after capturing the La Plata Handicap in May at SunRay Park. Her earnings now stand at $151,130.

Paint Candy Flying, the longest shot in the field at odds of 27-1, got up to take second. ICU Deity, the next-longest shot at 19-1 odds, took third.
