Apolitical Pac led the five qualifiers from the second night of trials for the $1,020,980 Heritage Place Futurity (G1) at Remington Park on Saturday night. It is the second time this season that she has posted a top qualifying time as she was also the fastest in the trials for the Oklahoma Futurity (G2) in March.
Owned by Victory Farms of Ada, Oklahoma, and trained by Brian Muse, Apolitical Pac was ridden by Cody Jensen. She handled her 350 yards in the sixth trial of 10 on the evening, crossing the finish in :17.691 over a fast track while defeating her rivals by 2 3/4 lengths.
A gray filly by Apollitical Jess from the First Down Dash mare Kpax, Apolitical Pac was bred in Texas by Bobby Cox. She has won two trials from three career starts, finishing fourth in the Oklahoma Futurity in her other outing.
Joining Apolitical Pac in the Heritage Place Futurity will be: Racy Casanova, :17.778 (trial 1); Count De Monet, winner of the Remington Park Juvenile (R), :17.804 (trial 3); Jaxtens First Wagon, :17.880 and Oklahoma Futurity winner Paint Me Perry, :17.918 (trial 10). He won twice on Saturday with Tzunami Is Okay (trial 4) and Honeymoon Candy (trial 9). A native of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, and resident of Oklahoma City, Carter now has 3,624 Quarter Horse victories and needs eight more wins to break the mark of 3,631 held by the retired Alvin “Bubba” Brossette.
Sunday afternoon racing on Mother’s Day will feature Bank of America Racing Challenge Stakes, led by the Grade 2, $121,410 Bank of America Remington Championship Challenge. Also on the program are four trials to determine the field for the $257,050 Heritage Place Derby (G2). The first race Sunday is at 1:30 p.m.
