Elite Oilfield Services’ BPs Jumpin Frisco will be tested by Rodney Verret’s quick Madresita in a solid field of short-distance specialists over 250 yards in the $25,000 Beautiful Prairie Stakes on Sunday at Hialeah Park.
BPs Jumpin Frisco (Jumpn-Frisco Fling by Dash For Cash) came off an extended layoff for the Hialeah season and after finishing a close second – beaten by a neck at 220 yards – in his return. He then won a nose decision in the $27,000 The Signature Stakes at 350 yards and then scored by another nose win in a $19,500 allowance race over 250 yards.
A 5-year-old gelding from the Alfredo Gomez barn, BPs Jumpn Frisco won last year’s Beautiful Prairie and is 2-for-2 at 250 yards. He has won four of seven starts at Hialeah Park.
Madresita (Pappasito-Mongoose Jet Eye by My Eye Opener) is known for her quickness and scored by a half length in her Hialeah Park debut on January 6. The John Stinebaugh-trained 4-year-old mare won the 250-yard allowance race in :12.893 as the 19-10 favorite.
Early in her 2-year-old year at Remington Park, Madresita won the $34,000 Laico Bird Stakes at 300 yards and was a close third in the 330-yard FL Lady Bug Stakes against Oklahoma-bred fillies.
Bryon Gardner’s Valiant Lil Lady (Valiant Hero-Rustys Lil Lady by Fredricksburg) won the $27,000 Bienvenido De Nuevo Stakes by a head as the 5-2 favorite and then came up a head short of BPs Jumpin Frisco for third in The Signature. The Judd Kearl-trained mare has won five of 11 starts with two seconds and a pair of thirds.
