Paul Blanchard’s Bills Last, coming of a second-place run in the $171,000 Los Alamitos Winter Championship (G1), finds class relief when he heads the $25,000 Katella Handicap over 350 yards on Sunday night at Los Alamitos.

Bills Last (Shazoom-Crystalinas by Beduino (TB)) has made three starts at Los Alamitos and finished second in each of those races. Two of those starts have been this winter with a second in his Winter Championship trial to Last To Fire while defeating Rylees Boy and then finishing second to Rylees Boy in the Winter Championship. The Paul Jones-trained 4-year-old gelding was defeated by a half length after veering in and bumping at the start.

An All American Futurity (G1) finalist at 2, Bills Last returned to Ruidoso Downs last summer and qualified for the Grade 1 All American, Rainbow and Ruidoso derbies.

Carlos Eduardo Velazquez’s Gone With A Win (Voghts Gold-Send Sallye Silver by Disco Jerry (TB)) is taking a step up in class after his third-straight win. He won by a neck for a $20,000 claiming tag on January 6 ands then came back to squeak out a head win in a conditioned allowance race. The member of the Jose De La Torre barn has four wins from nine starts, all at Los Alamitos.

Also in the Katella is Chicks Boudro, who is making his first start since a third at 16-1 odds in the PCQHRA Breeders Derby (G3) in October, as well as recent Anaheim Handicap runner-up Jumpn Shake and recent $50,000 claiming-race winner Pot Ocash.
