J and M Racing and Farm’s Call Me A Blazn Chic is positioned to boost her $403,535 earnings when she starts in the $75,000 Tommy “Duke” Smith Stakes (R) for 3-year-old New Mexico-bred fillies on Saturday at SunRay Park.

Call Me A Blazn Chic (Chicks A Blazin-Willie Call Me by Calyx) raced to a very profitable juvenile campaign highlighted by wins in the Zia Futurity (RG1) at Ruidoso Downs and the New Mexico Classic Futurity (RG2).

Trained by Roberto Sanchez, Call Me A Blazn Chic has been the favorite in her latest five starts and comes off a close second-place run in the $110,000 Sunburst Stakes at Sunland Park. She came up a head short in the April 14 race in her first start since January 7, a fourth-place run in the Shue Fly Stakes (RG2).

Sanchez also sends out Royal Dream Ranch’s Wish You Had One To (Stel Corona-Devons Wish by Devons Lane (TB)) off a close second-place finish in the Four Corners Senorita Stakes (RG3). She was a neck off the winner after a battle in the final strides.

Three starts ago, she won for a $10,000 claiming price and then was third in the Sunburst Stakes behind Call Me A Blazn Chic.

Gary Kloppenburg’s homebred Sparklin Royal (Sixes Royal-Sparkling Ojos by Celadon) won the Senorita Futurity (RG3) at The Downs at Albuquerque and was a close third in the New Mexican Spring Futurity (RG2) last year. She is winless from four starts this year for trainer Carlos Sedillo, however was third at 26-1 odds in the New Mexico Breeders Stakes (RG2) in her latest out.
