Joyce and Erik Lehtinen’s homebred Carters Secret looks to show that her impressive fastest-qualifying career debut in the trials was genuine when she returns in the $87,200 All Canadian Futurity (R) on Sunday at Ajax Downs.

With Helen King in the irons, Carters Secret (Carters Cartel-Dollish by Pritzi Dash) raced to a neck win in her first start when she won the first of three trials in :17.730 for the fastest time. She is trained by Erik Lehtinen.

Richard Wincikaby and DK Training Centre’s First Down The Track (Corona Cartel-First Down Runner by First Down Dash) finished second behind Carters Secret as the 8-5 favorite and sports the second-fastest qualifying time of :17.780. The Don Reid-trained filly has been on a roll since finishing ninth in the Maple Leaf Futurity. She was second in her Princess Futurity trial and then won the $54,000 Princess Stakes Futurity (R) before being caught by Carters Secret in their All Canadian trial.

Pete Schoeler’s homebred Poutn With Speed (Its All About Speed-Poutnlori by Okey Dokey Dale) makes his futurity debut after two straight wins. The Stan Webb-trained gelding won his maiden by one length on July 10 and then took his All Canadian Futurity trial by a neck, with the third-fastest time of :18.010.
