The Rachael Stephens-leased Doyles Dashing Star looks to score her third win of the year and second-consecutive stakes win when she starts in the $30,000 Faubourg St. John Stakes over 870 yards at Fair Grounds on Saturday afternoon.

Doyles Dashing Star (Heza Fast Dash-Georgia Wildcat by Groovy (TB)) posted her two 870 wins at Delta Downs this spring when she took an allowance race and then won the Virgil Bond Stakes through a disqualification. A 6-year-old mare from the Gene Stephens barn, Doyles Dashing Star dominated the 870-yard allowance race when she went from gate-to-wire on the lead to win by 3 1/2 lengths. She returned in the Virgil Bond Stakes to finish second behind Leading Patriot, who was disqualified from the win and that moved Doyles Dashing Star up to first place.

The Anthony Arey-owned and -trained Dr Drip (First To Shine-High Seas Operator by Streakin La Jolla) is still winning stakes as an 8-year-old. He led every step of the 870 yards to win the Live Oak Stakes over Louisiana-breds in his most recent start. In his prior start, he finished third in the Virgil Bond and was moved up to second place after the disqualification for interference.

Sunset Racing Stables’ Eyeontheline (Eye Yin You-Bobbie Lou (TB) by Barrett’s Bullet) won the 870-yard Marathon Stakes back in January at Louisiana Downs before a six-month layoff. He scored by a length as the 9-5 favorite.
