July 13, 2014

Fearless Fire, a full sister to 2014 Ed Burke Million Futurity (G1) winner Heza Dasha Fire, flew from the gate and held off C R Luke by a nose to win the $31,062 Wyoming Downs AQHA Maiden Challenge Saturday afternoon. Honest Eagle finished a neck back in third.

Ridden by Justin Vanderwoulde for trainer Bret Vickery, the Walk Thru Fire filly covered the 400 yards in a speedy :19.777 to earn a 110 speed index. It was the sorrel miss' second win in nine starts and the $14,289 winner's purse boosted her career total to over $21,200.

Bill Nolan owns the Washington State-bred daughter out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Dasha Freda. S-Quarter K LLC is the breeder.

C R Luke used a late surge to finish second and pocket $6,212 for owner/trainer Dean Hodson. Wayne Charlton and Hodson bred the TR Dasher gelding in Utah from the Shazoom mare Shesa Shazan. Jesus Virgen rode the three-time winner who has earned $18,705.

Fastest qualifier Honest Eagle was riding a two-race win streak into the final but failed to get there with a final big kick under jockey Oscar Cervantes. Chris Mitchell conditions the One Famous Eagle filly for owner Famous Lane Farm LLC. Rodney Christiansen bred the sorrel miss in Utah from the Heza Fast Man mare Quiet Courage. She earned $3,106 for the effort.

Completing the field were She Pays Dividends, RF Theeaglehaslanded, Onegamedame, Mc Graw, Stoplookingufoundme and Jet Black Patriarch. R B Chaser was scratched.
