Frans Hero, owned by Cynthia Dick, trained by John Stinebaugh and ridden by Tony Guymon, found her best stride late and prevailed by a neck over Sting Like A Viper in the $27,500 Sparkling Tip Stakes for 3-year-olds at 300 yards, Sunday’s feature event at Hialeah Park.

The daughter of Valiant Hero, bred in Missouri by Steve Zamler, won for the third time in three starts at this iconic South Florida racing palace dating back to a maiden-breaking victory at 350 yards on December 28, 2013. Frans Hero entered Sunday’s Sparkling Tip off an open-lengths victory at 300 yards as a heavy favorite at the allowance level on January 20.

Jockey Guymon, who has ridden the filly to victory in her three Hialeah Park starts, said she has always run well for him.

“She’s a professional little filly,” he said. “(Trainer) John (Stinebaugh) gave me a shot with her back in December, she broke her maiden here, and John’s stayed with me. His crew has done a great job with her and it makes my job much easier.”

Dispatched at odds of 5-1, the winner returned $13.20 for every $2 wager. Fran’s Hero covered the 300 yards of the Sparkling Tip in :15.735 and earned the winner’s share of $16,500. Her lifetime record now stands at 7-3-2-0 and her total earnings move to $37,946.

The official order of finish in the 2014 Sparkling Tip was: Frans Hero, Sting Like A Viper, Pm Runaway Dash, Spittin Jessie, Jesstastic, A Tac, Patriots Fury, Pappasinthehouse, Dream Ride, and Dashin Bye Slinky.
