Harlee Tucker Takes ASOA Futurity

Fales family completes the exacta at Turf Paradise.

December 23, 2012

The Fales family swept the exacta in Saturday’s $31,825 Margie Bryan ASOA Futurity at Turf Paradise as Harlee Tucker nosed out Madd Dog at the wire. With Joe Ruiz riding, Harlee Tucker stopped the timer at :19.806 for 400 yards. Harlee Tucker went off as the 5-2 second favorite with stablemate Madd Dog as the 7-5 favorite.

The first two finishers are both owned by Carolyn and Ralph Fales and trained by their son Matthew. Madd Dog, a Fales homebred by Dog Daze Afternoon, was the more accomplished of the two with a victory in the Desert Classic Futurity (R) earlier in the year, but Harlee Tucker picked up her first stakes victory with a determined drive. Bred in Arizona by Sergio Chavez II, the daughter of Heza Motor Scooter broke her maiden in the trials and earlier finished second in the Arizona QRA Futurity. The filly has now banked $23,418 in four starts.

Rosalio Aguirre’s RA Johnnys Crown, a 22-1 longshot, got up for third.
