Melvin Neugebauer’s Here Kittykittykitty closed with a rush to get up to win Sunday’s $110,000 Mesilla Valley Handicap (RG2) for New Mexico-breds at Sunland Park. The 5-year-old gelding by Genuine Strawfly covered 350 yards in :16.897 with Jorge Bourdieu up for trainer Wesley Giles.

Bred by Jay and Mary Lou Standefer, Here Kittykittykitty has won seven of 18 career starts and this effort improved his bankroll to $521,406. The gelding has five career stakes win and this one gives him at least one in each of his four years on the racetrack.

The New Mexico-bred is out of the unraced Now I Know mare One Diamond Cat, who also produced multiple stakes winner One Diamond Kitty, a 6-year-old full brother to Here Kittykittykitty who ran eighth in the Mesilla Valley Handicap but still leads his younger brother with lifetime earnings of $529,812.

J and J Stables LLC and Fredda Draper’s Genuine American, a gelding by Genuine Strawfly, finished a clear second with Richard Shearer’s homebred Calligrapher gelding A First Caller in third.
