Anna Garcia and Jose Orquiz’s Im Royal Quick carries highweight of 128 pounds when he tries for this third stakes win of the summer season in the $30,000 Master Salls Handicap over 870 yards on Sunday afternoon at Ruidoso Downs.

Im Royal Quick (Royal Quick Dash-Im Brendas Baby by Merridoc) started his summer campaign with a front-running 2-length win in the 870-yard Fine Loom Handicap as the 17-10 favorite. The gelding then came back to take the 870-yard Tricky Dust Handicap by a game head as the 13-10 choice.

The Jaime Aldavaz-trained gelding has four 870-yard stakes wins since taking the King Rick Rack Stakes back in November.

Mark Allen, Leonard Blach and Butch Southway’s Linda Tee Fire (Walk Thru Fire-Jess Linda Tee by Mr Jess Perry) made an impressive 870-yard debut when he finished second to Im Royal Quick in the Tricky Dust. The gelding from the Mike Joiner barn showed his class when he qualified for the Grade 1 All American and Texas Classic derbies last year.

The Richard Sedillo-owned and -trained Flyin Fish (Fishers Dash-Jazzing Cheree by Jazzing Hi) is a solid distance competitor with a win in the 1,000-yard Bobby Crenshaw Overnight Handicap, a second to Im Royal Quick in the Fine Loom and a third in the Tricky Dust.

Salvador Pimienta’s Emperor Valerian (Heza Fast Dash-Sheeza Lil Val by Dashing Val) makes his seasonal debut at Ruidoso Downs after finishing second by a nose in the Red Cell Remington Distance Challenge (G3) and third in the Remington Park Distance Handicap. Last summer at Ruidoso Downs, the Brandon Muniz-trained gelding was a daylight winner of the 550-yard Brigand Stakes.
