Fastest-qualifier Steinway Ivory meets stakes winner Jess Curl My Prize, who is 5-for-5, in the $125,000-guaranteed Bitterroot Futurity at 350 yards on Friday at Les Bois Park.

Rob Evans and Hanson Racing LLC’s Steinway Ivory (Ivory James-Christie Jo Dash by First Down Dash) has impressed since finishing a troubled fourth in a Los Alamitos maiden race when he made his first start. He came back at Los Alamitos to take a 300-yard maiden race by 1 1/2 lengths as the 1-5 favorite.

Steinway Ivory then joined the Mark Hanson barn at Les Bois Park and again came through with an impressive daylight win. The gelding won his Bitterroot Futurity trial by 1 1/2 lengths as the even-money choice. His time of :17.488 for the 350 yards was the quickest time from the nine trials.

Denny and Sandy Weigt’s Jess Curl My Prize (Spit Curl Jess-First Prize Joy by Oak Tree Special) has been a dominating force in the Northwest.

Jess Curl My Prize finished a very close second in her debut, however the winner was disqualified and she was awarded the win as the 1-2 favorite. She then crossed the finish line first in her next three starts.

After taking her Knight Transportation Futurity trial, she rallied along the rail in the finals to gamely take the nose victory. She was again in a battle in her Bitterroot Futurity trial when she fought to a neck win with the second-fastest qualifying time of :17.519.

EG High Desert Farms’ homebred Perryczech (Corona Czech-Gimme Back Mybullets by Mr Jess Perry) could produce a big effort. The filly finished fourth after a troubled trip in the $261,200 Kindergarten Futurity (G2) at Los Alamitos before shipping to Les Bois Park.

Perryczech made her Les Bois debut in the Bitterroot trials and overcame a hard bump at the start to win by a half length with the fourth-fastest time of :17.590.
