Carlos Garbiel Castro’s improving Jess Gone Streakin looks to continue his advancement when he starts as the fastest qualifier to the TQHA Futurity at the Gillespie County Fair on Saturday afternoon.
Jess Gone Streakin (Gone To The Mountain-Streak For Us Jessep by Mr Jess Perry) was well beaten in his first two starts at Sam Houston Race Park and then started to improve when he was second in a maiden race at Retama Park.
The Vicente De Los Santos-trained gelding then won his maiden when he won his TQHA Futurity trial by 1 1/4 lengths. His time of :18.123 was the quickest mark from four trials.
Martinez Quarter Horse Management’s Favorite Goodbye (Bigtime Favorite-Beep Beep Bye Bye by Dashin Bye) also won his maiden in his trial, but he has stakes experience with a qualification to the $68,490 John Deere Sam Houston Juvenile Challenge. The Jose Espinosa-trained gelding fought to a neck win in his trial with the second-fastest time of :18.126.
Richard King’s homebred Kings Game By Yawl (Yawls Rabbit-Thunder Got Game by Game Patriot) will be dangerous as she chases her third-straight win for trainer Angel Sanchez. She won a maiden race by a length and then came back in her TQHA trial to win by the same margin with the third-fastest time of :18.146.
