Jody Pops Zoomer, a gelding by Zoomin For Bux, forged to the head of the Ruidoso Downs’ older horse division when he defeated his rivals with a late rush in the 350-yard Higheasterjet Handicap on June 28. He won by an expanding three-quarters of a length with a :17.518 time.

Trained by Toby Keeton, Jody Pop Zoomer closed out his 2013 season with a win in the Grade 1, $394,000 Texas Classic Derby back in November at Lone Star Park. In his start before the Higheasterjet, he finished fourth, but was placed third, in the Grade 1, $250,000 Remington Park Invitational at 440 yards.

G.R. Carter Jr. rides Jody Pops Zoomer with the eighth post position in the full 10-horse field.

Burt Darian’s homebred Jesscuzican was second in the Higheasterjet behind Jody Pops Zoomer, however was also moving strongly in the final strides. The Higheasterjet came after he finished in a dead heat for second in the Bank of America Sunland Park Championship Challenge (G2) and was subsequently awarded first-place money.

Jesscuzican is also eligible to the All American Gold Cup.

Trainer Wes Giles will have Larry Gamez on Jesscuzican when they start from the fourth post position.

James Sills and Abelardo Flores’ A Toss Up make his second start off a nine-month layoff in the Mr Jet Moore. He impressed in his return when he won an optional-claiming race by two lengths with a sharp 19.33 time for 400 yards on May 30 at Remington Park.

A Toss Up was third in the 2013 $100,000 Sooner State Stakes (RG1) for trainer Eddie Willis. Jimmy Brooks is up with the fifth post position.

Rockin J Running Horses’ Rockin Disco finished on the board in the Bank of America Sunland Park Challenge and the Sam Houston Classic (G2). He was third in a Ruidoso Downs allowance race in his sole local start for trainer Tammy Kay Johnson.

Rockin Disco has the inside post position with Ricardo Aguirre up.
