Bobby Cox and Chad Hart’s Jumpn Shake will make his season debut while looking to score in the Anaheim Handicap for the second year in a row in Saturday’s 350-yard feature at Los Alamitos. First post time for the nine-race card is 6 p.m.

After scoring a three-quarter length victory in last year’s Anaheim Handicap, Jumpn Shake followed it up with a pair of allowance victories over the course. He also ran second in the First Down Dash Handicap (G3) and third in the Kaweah Bar Handicap (G3). His solid campaign earned Jumpn Shake the title of PCQHRA champion aged stallion in 2012.

Trained by Paul Jones, the 5-year-old son of Jumpn will be squaring off with another solid stallion in Kas On Fly, a 6-year-old Brazilian-bred sprinter which outdueled him in the First Down Dash on December 22. Jumpn Shake has drawn the outside post number five.

Trained by Paul Jones for Ralph Lima Terra, Kas On Fly scored a half-length victory in the First Down Dash and was also an easy 1 1/4 length winner against allowance rivals in late November. Kas On Fly’s only start of the season was a sixth place finish to champion Hez Our Secret in a trial to the Los Alamitos Winter Championship (G1).

Ronald Skeen and Fawna Knight’s Bar Closer comes into this race after winning a pair of allowances by a nose. He usually comes flying late so going from 330 yards to 350 should be to his benefit.

Stakes winners Jus Ledoux It and First Black Wagon complete the field.
