Contentious Keokuk at Prairie Meadows this weekend.

The Rodrigo Corrubias-owned and -trained Pure D Spit returns to the stakes division in search of his seventh-straight win in the $45,000 Keokuk Stakes on Saturday night at Prairie Meadows.

A 6-year-old gelding, Pure D Spit (Spit Curl Jess-Pure Princess by Pure D Dash) is riding a streak of six consecutive wins. Five of those are at the $10,000 starter-allowance level at Remington Park. He started the winning streak in a $12,500 starter-optional claiming race at Will Rogers Downs in October 2013 and his most recent race was on May 30 at the Oklahoma City track. Before the gelding’s streak began, he was second in the $51,750 Two Rivers Stakes (G3) at Prairie Meadows last fall.

The Miguel Banuelos-owned and -trained Win Rabbits Fly (Fly Jess Fly-Break The Market by Spectacular Native) chases his third consecutive victory after a pair of stakes wins in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The 5-year-old gelding won the $19,100 Fair Meadows Maturity on July 5 and then took the $19,925 Rocky Heinzig Memorial Stakes on July 26.

Alexia Mehrie’s Spit Curl American (Spit Curl Jess-American Dove by Toast To Dash) makes his return after a nine-month layoff. The Kasey Willis-trained 4-year-old horse concluded his 2013 campaign with a pair of allowance wins and two second-place runs. His highlight was a close second in the $146,800 Altoona Derby (G3) two starts ago, on October 11 at Prairie Meadows, followed by an allowance score on November 3 at Will Rogers Downs.
