Kool Wagon Takes Skip Zimmerman

Stablemates run 1-2 in Canterbury stakes.

Kool Wagon won the $22,700 Skip Zimmerman Stakes by 1/2 length over stablemate Specialscountrychick Sunday at Canterbury Park, covering the 350 yards in :17.776 over a muddy track. Both horses are trained by Stacy Charette-Hill.

Kool Wagon was ridden by Stormy Smith and is owned by his breeder Michael Pohl.

“Stacy told me this horse could run,” Smith said. “We broke first and never looked back.”

The 5-year-old by leading 2-year-old sire PYC Paint Your Wagon paid $9.80 to win. He is out of champion Kool Kue Baby, a daughter of Gone To The Man.

“We have been fortunate to have so many nice individual by this sire,” Charette-Hill said. “He’s blessed us. I can’t tell you how much he’s blessed us.”

Tom Maher's Painted Lies was third. Jess A Sign, Hastabealeader and Vibranz completed the field.
