La Perrita De Anya Takes AQRA Futurity
Filly becomes first stakes winner for stallion Dog Daze Afternoon.
November 11, 2012
Octavio Rodriguez’s homebred La Perrita De Anya went wire-to-wire to capture Sunday’s $28,737 AQRA Futurity (R) at Turf Paradise. Rodolfo Arvizu rode the Dog Daze Afternoon gelding for trainer Ramon Fontes Jr. and traveled 350 yards in :17.848.
This marked the fourth career win for La Perrita De Anya in seven starts and it made the filly the first stakes winner sired by Dog Daze Afternoon, a son of Streakin La Jolla who spent most of his career on the Arizona circuit and captured the Yavapai Downs Futurity (G3). La Perrita De Anya has raced in Arizona and New Mexico and her record now stands at 7-4-2-0 with earnings of $32,290.
Owners Carolyn and Ralph Fales sent out the second- and third-place finishers with Harlee Tucker and Madd Dog.
