Leanintoit Scores in Merial Ajax Challenge

Tres Seis mare picks up 12th career victory in only 15th start.

Multiple stakes winner Leanintoit was an easy winner over Hi N Dry Sunday afternoon in the Merial Ajax Downs Distaff Challenge at the track near Toronto, Canada. Calimero finished a half-length back in third.

Under jockey Brian Bell, Leanintoit cruised to a 1 ½-length win in :19.930, a 98 speed index at 400 yards. She picked up $11,981 for the victory and earned a spot in the starting gate for the $125,000 Merial Distaff Challenge Championship (G1) on November 9 at Los Alamitos Race Course.

Kim Ito saddled the Tres Seis 4-year-old to her 12th win in 15 starts for owner Donald Ito and Richard Wincikaby. Bred in Texas by Marcus Smith from the Heza Fast Man mare First Lady Amber, Leanintoit has earned more than $216,000.

Trainer Greg Watson saddled Hi N Dry for owner Cummings Cattle Co. Ridden by Chelsey Willick, the Royal Shake Em 3-year-old earned $5,299 for her effort. Ralph and Carolyn Fales bred the gray filly in Arizona from the Thoroughbred daughter of Dixieland Heat, Dry Heat.

Full Circle Racing and John Labrie own third-place finisher Calimero, a 3-year-old daughter of champion FDD Dynasty. Also trained by Watson, the sorrel miss was bred in Alberta by Shady Lane Stables from the Streakin La Jolla mare Seditious. The filly earned $2,649 under jockey Cory Spataro.

Completing the field were Copper State Queen and Sign It Down.
