The highest purses of the season are waiting in the winner’s circle on Saturday as Les Bois Park hosts the exciting Idaho Cup Day. Top Idaho bred Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses will compete for purses totaling over $240,000! Post time is 5:30 p.m. and gates open at 4 p.m.
Idaho Cup Day is a long-standing tradition at Les Bois Park.
“We have a very talented, all-Idaho field running this year; the competition is strong and so are the winnings. This is an outstanding opportunity for our patrons to see the best Idaho has to offer in live horse racing,” said General Manager Duayne Didericksen.
Just one of the exciting races highlighting Idaho Thoroughbreds will be the Governor’s Cup. Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter and First Lady Lori Otter will lead the post parade. Going off as the seventh race, the Governor’s Cup will feature Idaho bred 3-year-olds and older going seven furlongs with a purse totaling $15,600.
Idaho Cup Day is a way for Les Bois Park to honor the hard work and dedication of the horsemen that happens year round.
“This year’s Idaho Cup features some of the best horses in the entire Northwest,” said Les Bois Park Racing Secretary Shorty Martin. “It is a tribute to Idaho owners and trainers that we are seeing the quality of this year’s entries on Saturday.”
Patrons of Idaho Cup Day can look forward to food and beverage specials as well as live music provided throughout the event. General admission is $5 and parking is free. Les Bois Park has only three live race days left, culminating on Saturday, August 9th for Fan Appreciation Day where final honors will be awarded for leading trainers and jockeys! Post time 5:30PM – gates open at 4 PM.
