Press ReleaseJune 8, 2014
Delta Downs hosted a talent-laden stakes race on Saturday night and the second-longest shot on the toteboard came away with the victory. It was McM Dashmaster who supplied the fireworks as he took the $60,000 Vals Fortune (RG2) at odds of 30-1 under jockey David Alvarez.
McM Dashmaster used an ultra-fast start from gate to open up a clear lead in mid-stretch. Alvarez stayed busy throughout the ride and guided his mount to a one-length score over Dashin Gage in the race restricted to Louisiana-bred horses. T Boy P reporting home another half-length behind in third. The race was clocked in :19.502 for 400 yards.
The win by McM Dashmaster, who is conditioned by Bobby Martinez, was the seventh of his 20-race career. He earned $36,000 for the effort to raise his lifetime bankroll to $421,272.
