October 6, 2013

J K Running Horses LLC’s Mixed Fantasy became the first graded stakes winner sired by Okey Dokey Fantasy when he rolled to a 2 ¼-length win in Saturday’s $26,950 Covered Bridges Stakes (G3) at Prairie Meadows. Ridden by Roger Buening for trainer Kenny Laymon, the 3-year-old gelding traveled 870 yards in :45.308 to earn a 101 speed index.

Bred in Alabama by Carl and Luanne Humphries, Mixed Fantasy won for the sixth time in 14 starts and boosted his bankroll to $59,589. Earlier this year he won three allowance races at Hialeah Park and then tried 870 yards for the first time in his last start, a 6 ¼-length win at the $10,000 claiming level at Prairie Meadows. Mixed Fantasy’s sire, Okey Dokey Fantasy, stands at JEH Stallion Station’s Texas division.

Scott Lynn Roberts’ SMR Bronte, a Washington-bred gelding by Brimmerton, finished second as the favorite with last year’s Covered Bridges winner Call Her Hero in third for owner Horton Racing LLC.
