'Painted Sign' Scores at Fair Meadows
PYC Paint Your Wagon gelding earns first stakes win.

Mary Passmore’s Second Painted Sign picked up the first stakes victory of his career on Saturday with a game victory in the $90,000 Oklahoma Horsemen’s Association Derby (R) at Fair Meadows. The PYC Paint Your Wagon colt jumped out to an early lead and went on to win by three-parts of a length with a 350-yard time of :17.505 under jockey Debbie Freeman. Jackie Kirby was the winning trainer.
Bred by The Mixer Ranch out of the Vital Sign mare Stylish Sign, Second Painted Sign has won half of his 10 career starts and banked $78,203.
Second was Azoomin Streak, owned by Bella Vista Farms LLC. Trick On The Run was third, followed by Miss Kara, BP Mariahs JP, Sugar Quick Dash, Coronas At Sunset, Paydirt Pete, Youvebeenhenried and Ease Bye.
Also on the card, Carl Pevehouse’s homebred Candy Cartel captured the $21,250 Belles Stakes for fillies and mares. The 4-year-old daughter of Corona Cartel won by a length as the 7-10 favorite with Tony Bennett aboard for trainer Clinton Crawford. Candy Cartel is now a three-time stakes winner and has a record of 17-8-3-2 with earnings of $156,721.
