Flashy Hemp Stakes (R) winner Pantherinthefastlane and Party Girl Stakes winner La Mos Chingono meet over 350 yards in a field of Louisiana-bred distaffers in the $40,000 Audubon Stakes at Fair Grounds on Saturday.

Wade and Kay Loup Jr.’s Pantherinthefastlane (Panther Mountain-Sheza Neon Rose by Takin On The Cash) charged through the final yards of the Flashy Hemp Stakes on July 14 to score the very close nose win in the Flashy Hemp at nearly 10-1 odds.

Trained by Vann Haywood, Pantherinthefastlane found success at Fair Grounds last year when she won the Treme Derby (R) and was third against males in the Louisiana Champions Day Derby (RG2) as the 5-2 favorite.

Oscar Rohne’s La Mos Chingono (Heza Fast Dash-Rita Regent by Gold Regent (TB)) was the 7-10 favorite in the Flashy Hemp, but lost all chance at the start when she was bumped and found herself in very tight quarters. The Kenny Roberts-trained mare earned the strong support after winning the Party Girl Stakes (R) by a neck as the 2-5 choice. Back in December, she was a close second in the Louisiana Champions Day Classic (RG2).

Bobby Barnett’s Corona Dashin Bye (Dashin Bye-Corona Cerveza by Corona Cartel) could be ready to make a return to the stakes ranks after coming off a layoff to finish second in a Delta Downs allowance race in June. Last year she was second in the Louisiana Lassie Futurity (RG2) for trainer Bobby Martinez.
